Ever wanted to follow the progress of a travel blog from the beginning? Well, here’s your chance!
So, like me, you’ve seen the travel articles and advertisements plastered all over social media.
- This couple quit their 9 to 5 to travel the world! You can too!
- Learn how to travel the world and make money blogging!
- Travel the world on less than $50 a day ($25/day, $20/day, etc.)!!
You mean I can quit my job, travel and get paid for doing it?
Sign me up, right!? But wait, just how realistic are these claims? I’m sure you’ve pondered this same notion at one time or another. If it was that easy, wouldn’t everybody be doing it? Why aren’t I doing it right now? Well, I doubt the feat is as easy as these sensationalist titles would like you to believe, but just how much work do you actually have to put in? And that, my friends, is exactly what I plan to find out.
Okay, but how does one actually go about doing this?
The main reason I’ve built this website is to answer that exact question for myself (and share it with all of you). If you’ve ever wondered about the process yourself, you’ve come to the right place. Through a series of posts and tutorials I will explain each step of the way as I go through them myself. I will attempt to cover the most asked questions first and continue from there. Things like:
- How can you afford to travel for so long?
- What about your job? How can you just quit?
- How do you make money blogging?
- What will you do for healthcare?
- Have you booked all your flights and hotels already?
- How can you pack for such a long trip?
- Travel insurance?
Either this will provide you with a solid start to your own venture or (in case of failure) a nice blueprint of what not to do! My goal is to provide some transparency on what it takes to become a successful travel blogger, even if I do not quite become one myself.
You mentioned transparency?
Yes, I will share information on finances, advertising, affiliate marketing and everything in between.
- Actual cost of my travels (monthly/weekly updates)
- Amount collected from ad revenue (monthly/weekly updates)
- Commissions earned from affiliate marketing (monthly/weekly updates)
The goal is to give you a glimpse into how much (or little) income is generated from this first post to wherever this ends up. As of now this website has not been approved for Google’s Adsense nor any affiliate marketing, so is currently receiving zero income.
Update (7-9-2017): Website has been approved for Google Adsense and Amazon affiliation. I will include generated income in future budget posts.
Color me intrigued, how do I follow along?
At the moment, the easiest way to follow along is to connect with me on social media.
I’m still undecided on having a newsletter or mailing list. It feels a bit dated and social media seems like the way to go these days. Plus, I’ve always hated the constant pop ups on websites that are basically begging you to sign up to their mailing list, newsletter or to access an e-book. Though, I’ve seen it so much, it’s probably a large revenue stream I may be missing out on. I’ll research the subject and make my decision at a later time. For now, feel free to connect with me on Facebook or Instagram.
Do you have any suggestions, comments, questions or knowledge you’d like to share?
Please feel free to message me on social media or leave a comment below!
